RAHWAY, N.J. \u2013 Gary Allen Shann took up the guitar when the Beatles\u2019 landed in New York on February 7, 1964. Within a few years, he formed bands and soon became a leading performer throughout the period. He wanted to leave behind an accurate, reliable record of what it was like to be a contender in the musically explosive period of the late \u201860s. It is for this reason he has written \u201cClass A Member: A Story of the Jersey Shore Music Scene\u201d.<\/p>\n

That period initiated a new direction for America that was radically different than the \u201850s and early \u201860s,\u201d Shann says.<\/p>\n
