variability could be improved
used to keep puppy from downstairs. Would be nice if somehow you could vary the thickness. Due to the baseboard causing the width to be different from top to bottom of the gate, I was 1/8 inch too narrow on the bottom to use the full gate with extensions. The result is that the adjusting screws are almost fully extended. Not attractive and, of course, weakens the application.

Helps keep the gate in place

I wish I had this with my first child 8yrs ago!
Love this, I really wish I had this with my first child 8yrs ago. I had to install a gate by the stairs to keep the baby off the stairs. The gate does not move and there are no marks on the wall and trust me my child is still testing it several times a day! Very easy to use!

Great drywall protector
We love the wall nanny. We bought a doggy gate and just had our house repainted. In order to avoid ruining the walls just after painting, we decided to get the wall nanny and not only does it protect the walls, it holds fast. These work like a charm! If we had not used these our gate wouldn’t have been secure, safe or stayed up without them. As it is now, it has just the right amount of give, is as secure as if it was something we had custom made for our space and professionally installed. This product definitely made all the difference in the world. I could only imagine the headache and extra time that would have been spent dealing with the gate collapsing repeatedly if we had not had these. Then there would have been the constant worrying about it collapsing and our fur babies getting out every time we left the house. If you’re putting up a gate for your child or fur baby, do yourself a huge favor, go ahead and order this product along with your gate!

Best for 85 yr old mother who shakes gates
Prevents damage to walls and most importantly keeps senior and toddler out of the kitchen. Also have 100 pound dogs that can’t budge the gate. Extremely happy with this purchase. I usually go with a cheaper version but after some research the couple of dollars difference was worth the value of the product. We have several generations under one roof. 6 months to 85 (dementia) plus dogs so keeping everyone safe isn’t as easy as you would think. Not having to worry about the gates being knocked down is a huge plus.

Make sure you select the correct shape for your gate’s location!
We have four baby gates in our house (my wife now refers to our house as a “gated community”), and we use wall protectors for all of them. We have been quite happy with this particular rectangular model (when used in the appropriate locations — see below). They are easy to install, their rubber grip minimizes slippage of the gate, and they leave very little marking behind on the wall when they are removed.Wall protectors come in several different shapes and sizes, which is good because baby and pet gates can be installed in different types of locations (staircases, doorways, large walls, etc.). It is important to select the proper wall protector based on where you plan to place your gate. So…—————————————————————————————A FEW GENERAL PRINCIPLES ABOUT WALL PROTECTORS—————————————————————————————-1) Wall protectors don’t just protect your walls from dents and scratches; they also usually provide a better grip between the gate and the wall. This means your toddler or pet will have a harder time pushing the gate out of place (though they will still try!).2) Almost all wall protectors will still leave a small mark on your wall, especially if it’s painted drywall. There are ways to minimize the mark left behind, but it’s probably unrealistic to expect absolutely no evidence that you had a gate installed. The protectors do, at least, help minimize the risk of DENTS in the wall.3) A larger wall protector will generally have a lower risk of denting your wall than a smaller one because it will distribute the pressure from the gate over a larger area of the wall.4) On the other hand, the larger the wall protector, the farther that contact point of the gate will end up being from adjacent structures like the floor. For example, with a large circular wall protector, the opening where you fit the gate’s tension screw is a few inches from the edge of the protector, which means the bottom of the gate will be an inch or two off the floor. Obviously having the horizontal bar at the bottom of the gate’s opening floating a few inches off the floor would create a tripping hazard!5) Therefore, in general the best wall protector to use for each of your gate’s contact points is the one with the largest surface area that will fit into the space without displacing the gate. (Obviously I’m ignoring aesthetics here…)With those principles in mind, let’s consider three of the most common shapes of wall protectors for baby gates and where they might best be used:1) Round: These wall protectors are usually 5-6″ in diameter, with an opening in the center where you insert the gate’s tension screws. Their biggest advantage is creating less pressure on your walls due to their size (which is especially important against drywall). However, they won’t fit in some places and they probably shouldn’t be used against the floor, where they could prevent your gate from sitting flush against the floor. So use them on your gate’s upper contact points wherever you have a large wall space.2) Rectangular: These are usually about 2″ x 6″. They put slightly more pressure on your walls than the large circular protectors, but they fit into places the circular ones won’t. I suggest using these in two types of places:- In the horizontal orientation for ALL lower gate supports, EXCEPT in places where your horizontal wall space is only a few inches (such as the bottom of a narrow door frame). This will allow you to position the gate as close to the floor as possible.- In the vertical orientation for UPPER gate supports in a narrow door frame.3) Square: These are typically about 2″ x 2″ — in other words, not much larger than the gate support. I would use these in only one place: for the LOWER gate support at the bottom of a narrow door frame, where really nothing else would fit.

Allows gate to stand firm with three Dobermans!
The Nanny Gate wall Protectors hold the gate securely. Of special importance, I have curved baseboard moulding and the protectors create a flat surface to keep the gate from sliding. One of the Dobes will put her front feet on the top of the gate and it now holds firm. Love it!

A MUST HAVE!
I wish I had known about these sooner! Not only does it protect our walls and paint, it makes our gates SO MUCH sturdier and secure.We have two boys, one of whom is a “super” toddler. Super smart and super strong. He learned he could push on the gates and before Wall Nanny, they’d slide a bit and the gate would open right up.Now they don’t budge at all!Even just using two for the tops of the gates has made a HUGE difference. No more escapes!I’ve already told multiple parents this is a must have. Very useful wall saver
Many dog gates either have you screw the sides into the wall or use small circular pressure pads that mark up the wall. Not so with this product! The larger footprint distributes the pressure better and saves the walls!

I got this after I noticed an indent in my wall, since I have put the wall nanny in place, the indent has not gotten worse. If I would have gotten then this months ago my wall would have been fully intact, meanwhile grateful for this gadget it is preventing a hole!

Solution for metal deck railing!
I’ve wanted a gate for the deck to keep my dogs contained, but the railing and posts are metal. Not wanting to drill holes in my new deck posts, I had to improvise which looked horrible. I stumbled on these, what a genius invention! Installing would have been very simple with another set of hands, but I got it done. My new black metal gate looks fantastic with the deck, the wall nanny system holds the gate securely. I highly recommend!

Wish I had know about these before!
Previously had a pet gate that, when we took it off the wall for deep cleaning, took the paint off the wall. New gate, new paint job – really didn’t want to mess up the paint. Happened to see this product and thought it couldn’t hurt to try. I was very glad I did! Easy to install and, needing to adjust the new gate location, didn’t take off the paint when removed! Highly recommend!

Protects walls or woodwork
Comes with a hole in the “cup” for a screw to hold the pad to a surface. I specifically purchased the product so I wouldn’t have to drill a hole in my woodwork! Weird. I guess it’s a lawyer gimmick to avoid lawsuits in the event the buyer does not screw the pad down and an accident occurs. It seems to work just fine from static friction. My dog and cat have been unable to budge the gate.

We have a very energetic puppy and we started out with just the gates but after realizing that the wall was at risk of getting damaged and the puppy was able to take them down as he got stronger I ordered the nannies. I bought these to stabilize a baby gate I bought to keep dogs out of an area. The gate itself was giving me problems and not stay in place very well – all the dogs had to do was put minimal effort and they would knock the gate over. I used Wall Nanny, and it was like magic. Still not defeated by Cleaver French Bulldogs.
I had to use these to put up a gate at my office that would contain Boris and Nikita, my French Bulldogs. I had a fence of sorts but they figured out how to get around it and get to our patients. (I manage a Doctor’s Office). These protected the walls and made it possible to really tighten the expansion screws on the gate we got right here on Amazon.The dogs are looking at the affair and trying to figure out how to get around it but I don’t think they can. They feel the need to be close to the patients as their job is to greet the patients. They both have Doctoral Degrees in Greeting Sciences from Harvard. No Kidding.Recommended when installing a door gate for children or dogs. Your chosen gate will probably come with some but they will not be as good as these are.
