I first tried fasting myself after five years of meditation. Meditation was good, very relaxing and although it did give me the energy boost I desired it didn’t happen often enough. I got bored of trying. I almost gave up completely, however I’m not one that gives up so easily, so I experimented with fasting.
I used to run more often and further than I do now but it was over 18 years ago and I was a lot younger. I fasted for two days, from first thing in the morning on the first day, it was a Monday and up until breakfast on the third day, being Wednesday morning. Both evenings I ran for approximately 5k, not wanting to over do it but to give the experiment a good chance of succeeding. I had no real idea of what I might discover but I knew I had to try something to boost my energy levels. On the night of the second day and as normal, I practiced meditation during the last ten minutes before going to sleep, quite often dropping off to sleep while doing so. I did the normal meditation exercises, breathing in and out, large intakes of breath for the first 10, holding and expanding the blood vessels and then slow and with rhythm to allow the body to relax and for trapped or suppressed energy to flow and be released, giving that calm affect like normal. Everything was fine at first, however during the course of the next 5 to 7 days my energy levels began to rise and rise until my mind could no longer cope, it completely relaxed leaving me in what can only be described as a trance like state, it allowed the energy to pass through.
